The government rejected the proposal of the National Liberation Front (FLN) deputies to abolish the IRG tax (global income tax) for employees whose wages are less than 36 000 Algerian dinars, arguing that the proposal would cause a major financial loss to the state, estimated at 360 billion dinars from direct taxes.
It is noteworthy that the FLN deputies’ proposal has brought back the issue of fixed wages that have not changed for years, despite the economic transformations, which has directly affected the income of the Algerian individual, who suffers from the poor purchasing power and high prices.
