The workers of “Hatif Libya” company in Benghazi threatened to strike in case of the non-meeting of their demands.
The employees of the company asked in a statement to avoid the conflict based on the board of directors, which has already begun in Tripoli. to Benghazi. Moreover, they stressed the need to pay the delayed salaries, as soon as possible, and not use them as a pressure on employees to implement their own agendas.
The workers welcomed the reunification efforts and supported the agreement signed between the two communications bodies in the two governments, which aims at unifying the sector in Tripoli and Benghazi, calling for its adoption by the officials of both governments, and stressing on the accountability of those involved in financial corruption, as well as, their suspension from work, until the end of the investigation.
The protesters also warned that if corruption continues and serious steps are taken to save the company from bankruptcy, they will take escalatory steps, including a strike and the closure of all the company’s headquarters, if necessary.
The workers pointed out in their statement that the telecommunications sector is witnessing a struggle for the chairmanship of the holding company, which belongs to “Hatif Libya” company and especially the Benghazi Telecom Zone. This was due to the departure of the employees of the region in several protest vigils against the management of the holding company and “Hatif Libya” company’s management, due to the non-implementation of the judgments of the judiciary, in relation to the commercial register of the company, and in view of what was disclosed in the report of the audit bureau regarding the company’s losses which amounted to 100 million dinars until the end of 2014, which exposes the company to bankruptcy and liquidation according to the Commercial Law.
