The French newspaper, Marianne, criticized a video published by the French version of the Qatar-based AJ+ network on the situation of foreign workers in Doha, affirming that the Qatari network is misleading and conceal the reality of the migrant workers’ situation.
The French magazine highlighted that the Qatari network claimed an investigation about the foreign workers’ situation in Qatar, as this video turned into a misleading promotional propaganda for Qatar instead of revealing the truth.
It added that this network is a supporter of Doha in France to blow up and distort the image of the opponents of the Qatari regime, whether they are people or countries. In return, this network is silent when it comes to the reputation of Qatar, as it even spreads misleading messages to protect the system.
According to Marianne magazine, the Qatari network ignored the tragedy of these oppressed workers, who have been working under difficult and miserable conditions and who have been suffering for years, deprived of their salaries. Hundreds of workers died as victims of the government’s neglect, as well as, the ignoration of human rights organizations' denials and condemnations of the workers’ conditions at construction sites of the 2022 World Cup finals.
On the other hand, the magazine added that the network offered a nine-minute misleading video, claiming that it was investigating the workers' situation, citing Doha's alleged efforts to bring prosperity to foreign workers, but the French magazine pointed out that the video highlighted the death of the 23 years old Nepali worker, last August, during his work at the construction site of one of the stadiums.
It revealed that the incident was not the first one, during which foreign workers die from Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal, who live in harsh working conditions, under heat and hunger after being deprived of their salaries, in addition to the confiscation of their passports and their prevention from leaving Doha.
