Morocco: pupils protest in several cities against the adoption of the daylight-saving time

, reflecting public discontent and resentment at the fragility of the economic conditions and the crises in different areas, including decision-making.

The protestors circulated on the social network sites a sharp criticism of the government and its president. Then, they protested on the streets as a gradual escalation by the young students, who went out for the second week of street protests, which did not only cover in the big cities but remote cities and towns as well.

The situation escalated on Monday, as thousands of pupils from Rabat and “Sala” organized protest marches in the streets of Rabat, heading to the parliament. “Sala Al-Qantara”'s students marched towards the parliament, which led to the paralysis of the tramway line.

In front of the headquarters of the parliament in the center of the city, the students of Sala joined the crowds of the Rabat students, amid a large security presence, and raised slogans such as "People want to cancel the summer time," and " This is a shame…people are oppressed," and " " The living style is Moroccan and the time is French"

The various districts of Casablanca witnessed similar marches and protests, as well as in the cities of “Mohammedia” and “Migen Taznit”, and “El Kelaa des Sraghna”, “Agadir",” Temara”, “Sidi Suleiman”,” Taza”, “Zakoura”, “Azilal”, “Ait Mellul”, “Khouribga, “Driouch”, “Nador”, “Tangier”, “Meknes”.

In fact, classes have been stopped in the cities of Tangier on Monday and the pupils gathered from all the educational institution of the city to protest raising slogans asking for” the cancellation of the summer time”

The widespread of these escalatory protests and movements by students against the government's decision to adopt daylight saving time throughout the year have confused the Ministry of National Education, Vocational Training, Higher Education and Scientific Research, which have described last week’s protests as "isolated cases."

In a number of areas, students were subjected to violent attacks by the security forces. As result, many of them were wounded and were taken to hospitals amid the widespread of the civil society and political parties’ condemnation.
