Amid a suspicious silence from the authorities: The officials of SBEN.MA (formerly Volkswagen) in Tangier threaten workers and prevent them from meeting

In a dangerous precedent, the officials at the management of SBEN.MA (formerly Volkswagen) for the manufacture of electrical wires in Tangier besieged the headquarters of the regional union of the Moroccan Workers’ Union, on Sunday morning, in order to prevent the workers of the institution from holding a public meeting to discuss the ways to react the over the management’s decision to expel members of the trade union office in a blatant targeting of the trade union right.

The trade union sources revealed that the administrative officials put barriers at the entrances of the of the union’s headquarters and started to threaten the workers and force them to return, amid the security surveillance from afar, which surprised the workers.

The trade unionists and workers were forced to gather in the street and raise slogans condemning these dangerous practices and denouncing the silence of the authorities and their non-interference.

This blatant and illegal assault has raised the denial of the union and political affairs’ followers in Morocco. In fact, it is a new way of bullying that started to be followed by multinational corporations against workers, in light of the suspicious silence of the authorities.
