In Mauritania: The authorities prevent illegally the Secretary-General of the National Confederation of Mauritania (CNTM) from traveling

The Nouakchott–Oumtounsy International Airport’s police prevented the Secretary-General of the National Confederation of Mauritania (CNTM), “Abdallah Ould Ahmedou”, nicknamed "Al-Nahah", from traveling on Tuesday, November 7, on the pretext of receiving instructions from the airport commissioner in this regard.

The Secretary-General had already completed all the travel procedures until he was informed of the decision of his prevention from traveling without a judicial authorization.

The Executive Committee of the National Confederation of Mauritania (CNTM) expressed its condemnation of the illegal measure taken by the Nouakchott Airport Police, which is a flagrant violation of the individual freedoms enshrined in the constitution of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.

The confederation warned the Mauritanian authorities in a statement of the danger of violating the individual and collective freedoms, as it could undermine the social peace, which became fragile by the deterioration of the social and economic conditions of the Mauritanian workers. Moreover, it asked the concerned authorities to immediately cancel this decision.

The confederation expressed its commitment to its independent trade union line and its continuation to struggle to protect the interests of the Mauritanian workers whatever it takes, calling on workers to join and mobilize vigorously to defend their rights and interests.
