Because of the government's insistence on its poor proposals: The Moroccan unions withdraw from the social dialogue sessions

The delegation of the Democratic Confederation of Labor withdrew from the social dialogue session, which was held following the invitation of the Prime Minister, “Saad Eddin Othmani”, on the eve of Friday (November 2nd) in the Cabinet Office, in Rabat.

Sources from the Democratic Confederation of Labor said that their trade union decided to withdraw from the meeting which brought together the government and the most representative unions, as the prime minister is still committed to "the same proposals", which they described as "very meager", which they had previously rejected in previous sessions.

In the context of these developments, the sources revealed that the delegation of the Moroccan Workers’ Union also withdrew from this meeting, as well as, the employers' union, and the General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco (CGEM).

For its part, the General Secretariat of the Moroccan Workers’ Union issued a statement confirming the government commitment to its poor and discriminatory offer regarding the increase of just the functionaries’ wages.

The Moroccan Workers’ Union reiterated its firm position that the government offer does not include its fair and legitimate demands, foremost of which is the general increase in the public and private sector wages and the tax reduction. In fact, it does not include the raising of the minimum wage and eliminate an important category of employees. Moreover, it does not meet the demands of a number of groups affected by the system of the public service, public institutions and the territorial communities. Besides, it does not address the implementation of the remaining of the 26th April 2011 agreement, as well as the current sectoral problems.

In its statement, the General Secretariat condemned the government's stance towards the just and legitimate demands of the working class, declaring its boycott to every session that includes the same government offer, which does not meet the aspirations and expectations of the general public.

It is noteworthy that the government is adhering to its wage increase by MAD 200 starting from January 1, 2019, MAD 100 starting from January 1, 2020 and MAD 100 staring from January 1, 2021.
