The violation of laws and gains at the Zitouna Bank in Tunis, and employees decide to launch a strike on the 15th of November

The Zitouna Bank Syndicate decided to schedule a strike on November 15.

The bank's agents and cadres expressed their condemnation regarding the continuation of the trade union rights’ violations, during the last meeting, through the Zitouna Bank’s administration’s intention to leave the institution without the trade union’s party consultation, ignoring the maintenance of jobs and rights, that are acquired in accordance with the ongoing legislation.

The bank's agents also condemned the administration's publication of the 2017 promotions after almost a year of delay, unilaterally, without presenting it to the advisory committee. Moreover, they condemned the non-serious and responsible negotiation regarding the set of points raised by the main union, which led to the emergence of congestion, tension and the deterioration of the social climate.

In fact, the bank is now one of the Qatari Sheikha Mozah institutions, which was a random decision, taken in a suspicious manner, despite the bank's positive results.

It is also known that the bank is one of the confiscated institutions after the revolution, and although it was developed through time and began to achieve respectable profits, thanks to the efforts and sacrifices of its assistants and cadres, now, it is sold with a cheap amount that does not reflect its real value.

The employees of the bank considered in a statement issued after the general meeting that this is a huge loss to the national group and a flagrant violation of their legitimate entitlements in supporting their rights and preserving their jobs and gains stipulated by the laws during any pre-expropriation process.
