The National Union of Public Sector Doctors in the Kingdom of Morocco announced that it will enter into a three-day national strike in all the health institutions and departments, except for rehabilitation and emergency departments and the date will be scheduled later.
It announced in its statement that " Wednesday, November 28, 2018 will be the public sector doctors’ mourning day, during which they will wear the black suits and “hold meetings with the parliamentary groups and human rights organizations, as well as the, continuation of the permanent forms of struggle."
It also revealed that it will boycott the school health campaign because of the absence of the minimum medical, administrative standards and medical anatomy. Moreover, it will start a field research on the doctors’ will for mass migration, in addition to the continued boycott of all the non-medical administrative work, such as periodic reports and statistics, except for the notification of compulsory diseases notices and when asking for clarifications from the Ministry of Health about the source of the figures used in the statistics, despite the boycott of the vast majority of doctors for the periodic reports, records and administrative records, except for birth and death certificates.
The union stated that it would begin the administrative and practical procedures to launch a strike for vital interests until it reaches all the hospitals of the kingdom without exception, so that the Moroccan government can take the necessary measures, based on its responsibility on the Moroccans’ health and the future situation.
Doctors complain about the lack of the minimum necessities such as the acute shortage of doctors, the lack of medical and biotic equipment, the disastrous situation in the health institutions, the absence of the scientific conditions for the medical practices, and especially after the government’s irritation of the health sector.
The National Union of Public Sector Doctors considered that instead of focusing on looking for practical solutions to save the health sector from its crisis, there is a strange insistence on faking the realities through media, holding the doctor responsible for these ‘chronic’ health problems. It emphasizes that "Despite our dismissal as a distress call, we are still today, alongside with the Moroccan patients, on the normal functioning of medical interests and health centers, although that the majority of doctors are suffering from collective functional depression."
