The executive office of the union of the Agricultural Development Agency of the Moroccan Workers’ Union announced the launching of a strike on Thursday (September 27th, 2018) against the tightening of trade union freedoms by the agency's administration, especially the exercise of the right to strike. The administration bears full responsibility for the social tension and its negative impact on the work inside the institution.
The union accused the agency’s administration in a statement of the continuation of its policy of escaping and evading from its responsibilities in activating its commitments, especially the outputs of the joint committee for dialogue. It violated the partnership principles through the exclusion of workers from the gains and profits achieved and from their right to social justice that preserves their dignity.
The Executive Office of the union was subjected to the administration’s restriction on the freedom of trade union through the exploitation of the officials’ administrative authorities to intimidate and oppress the employees, in violation of the national and international laws and conventions organizing the trade union action, especially the right to protest and strike.
It is noteworthy that the workers and employees of the agency have been carrying the red band since Monday 17 September, and organized a protest on the 20th of the same month at the agency's headquarters, rejecting the administration's repressive tactics.
