On Thursday October 25th 2018, at the headquarters of the Moroccan Workers’ Union in "Wadi Zem" a trade union gathering was organized for the workers of the handling companies working in the local hospital Mohammed V, during which they studied and discussed the poor professional and social conditions of the workers in the hospital.
In fact, the companies responsible for the management of a number of services in the hospital disrespect the books in general and mainly in the section on the rights of workers, as the majority of workers were deprived of the minimum wage or suffer from the reduction of the wages of some of them and even the deprivation of so others of their financial dues. Moreover, the absence of clarity for some companies towards their employees, in addition to their lack of any document proving the employment relationship.
The local labor union revealed that some had been forced to sign blank contracts that did not even stipulate the actual date of the beginning of the work. Bedsides, most companies refused to declare the real number of workers' days and hours in the National Social Security Fund, and some were not even recognized at all, despite their long working time.
On the other hand, most of the workers were deprived of their right to enjoy health coverage and family compensation, and the non-compensation of extra hours for, night work, and holidays. Moreover, most companies ignore the provision of clothing, badges, and the work equipment.
The workers are also subjected to threats of retaliation, expulsion, attacks, fabrication of files, incitement and spurring problems, in an attempt to discourage them from the trade union work and being part with the Moroccan Workers’ Union, to intimidate them and violate their human dignity, as well as, exploiting them, in a sort of slavery.
