Torrential rains in “Nabeul” governorate in Tunisia: The Regional Labor Union bears the authorities full responsibility for the damages and losses

The executive office of the Regional Labor Union in “Nabeul” governorate condemned the total absence of the state's representatives following the floods that swept through the province during these recent days. Moreover, it condemned the absence of the pro-active media, calling in its statement for conducting a serious investigation against those responsible for the damages of this disaster, in addition to their accountability.

The union condemned the communication policy of the regional authorities and their attempts to minimize the damages of the disaster, which led to the aggravation of its repercussions and resulted in the aggravation of the tension, anger and protests among people in different affected parties.

It also called for the participation of the union and the civil society components in the region to monitor the repercussions and identify the intervention’s priorities, as well as, the consideration of “Nabeul “governorate as a disaster area, noting the vulnerability of the infrastructure and the absence of a study that would protect the cities from flooding.

It is noteworthy that the governorate of “Nabeul” witnessed heavy floods that caused the death of 6 people and heavy financial losses for citizens, institutions, shops and at the level of animals and plantations.
