The council of the Southern Yemeni teachers and educators’ union confirmed that the union will not give up on its professional and social demands mentioned at their last general conference.
The members of the council announced at a press conference held on Tuesday at the union’s headquarter in “Al-Maala” governorate the continuation of their strike and the renewal of their request for a new wage structure that would commensurate with the current circumstances and the settling of a final and decisive solution for the employees of 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011, in addition to the settling of the annual bonuses and level adjustments of all teachers.
Teachers also ask for the settling of the retired teachers’ situations and the payment of their accumulated financial dues all at once, as well as, their provision with the basic needs for a decent living, such as health insurance, like in the other high-income sectors.
