Tunisia has recently witnessed a striking phenomenon which is the rape of old women by delinquents with criminal records.
The most recent of these crimes was the rape of a 74-year-old woman in “Manzel Tamim” district of Nabeul province in the northeast of the country by a delinquent who was known for his involvement in the crimes of rape and the abduction of the elders.
The phenomenon of the elders’ rape has become alarming in the Tunisian society, where Tunisians were also shocked months ago by the rape and killing of the old woman "Selma" in the province of Kairouan in the center of the country by a number of delinquents who raided her house at night.
The authorities have been able to arrest a dangerous criminal last month specialized in raiding the elders’ houses and their sexual assault in the province of Ariana.
The specialists are asking to study this strange and dangerous phenomenon.
