The national janitor workers organized a protest on Sunday in front of the parliament on Mohamed V Street in Rabat, where they denounced the continuation of their work with a salary that does not exceed more than 1500 dirhams without health coverage or compensation for work accidents, although that some of them worked for more than 40 years.
“Milouda Ghizlani”, a national writer for the National Democratic Organization of Janitor Workers, stated: "the national janitor workers do not enjoy the minimum wage or benefit from the health coverage and retirement. Moreover, they do not enjoy family allowances, compensation for work accidents, and many other rights…”. Besides, she asked the political, trade union and human rights organizations to support these workers.
The protesters described their demands as legitimate and that their legal and financial status should be settled, as "they have contributed to the construction of the dams, worked in the administration, hygiene and gardening, and performed their work inside and outside the administration, as well as, some of them worked for more than 40 years.", according to the workers.
The protestors raised slogans calling for "the cessation of stealing their financial dues", condemning the "government of the violation of their rights and freedoms" and asking for "the integration of then national janitor workers " as "a decisive legitimate right."
