The National Council of Teachers of Higher Education "CNES" is expected to correspond with president Bouteflika on the problems witnessed by the higher education sector, threatening to resort to strike, in light of the continuation of this status quo, and asking for his intervention to redress the university professors’ situation.
The National Council threatened through the media statements of some of its leaders to enter into a national strike, condemning the current status of the university professors on the one hand and defending their dignity, especially with regard to the wage ladder, as they rank at the bottom compared to other public sector workers.
The wage ladder approved by the higher education sector is offensive to the university professor, although that these latter have the highest degree in the public service.
In addition to the increase in their salaries, the professors are asking for the cancellation of the fourth-class sanctions from the universities, as that they are mostly used for personal reasons through the arbitrary dismissal and unlawful suspension.
