Hundreds of people from Basra participated in a peaceful march on Tuesday, asking for the reform of the political system and the development of the local economy.
Through their slogans and banners, the protesters asked for the provision of job opportunities for the unemployed and the improvement basic services, especially to address the crisis of salinity and water pollution.
The protestors condemned also the assassination of the activist and member of the “Alweed” Organization for Human Rights, Dr. “Souad Al-Ali”, by unknown gunmen in the “Abbasiya” area in central Basra in daylight.
It is noteworthy that unknown gunmen shot the activist, “Souad Al-Ali”, who headed “Alweed” Organization for Human Rights, while she was passing by her car in the “Abbasiya” area in the center of the city, which led to her death and resulted in the injury of another civilian.
