The National Confederation of Mauritania Workers asked for redressing the workers of the public transport company (STP), including drivers and collectors and grant them their full rights.
In a statement, the confederation called for opening a dialogue with the workers' representatives to meet their demands, condemning the company's dismissal of groups of its workers (drivers and collectors) instead of recruiting new workers to meet its needs of labor force.
The confederation confirmed that some workers were laid off without legal justification, while the rest of them were deprived of their allowances and financial privileges due to the company's violation of their rights, in light of the absence of dialogue with them.
It also confirmed that the recent measures taken by the company resulted in the arbitrary dismissal of 20 workers, including 14 representatives of the company's workers, warning of the repercussions of this arbitrary dismissal on the social life and high rate unemployment in the country.
