According to the World Bank: The Middle East and Africa stand at the bottom of the list regarding the protection of women

The World Bank reported in its recent reports entitled "Women, Business and Law 2018",which covers 189 countries that the Middle East and North Africa regions had the lowest rates regarding the protection of women from violence by about 24 points.

The report revealed that there are 21 countries where there is no protection for women, 35% of them are from the Middle East and North Africa, 19% of them in Black Africa, in addition to Russia, Haiti, Myanmar and Uzbekistan, which means that there is no law, that would protect them or punish the violators.

The report revealed that in one third of the covered countries, there is at least one law that restricts the women's ability to access institutions due to the various laws restricting women's interaction with the public authorities and restricting their ability to work and interact in the social life. Thus, the Middle East and North Africa had the lowest rates by 66 points.

The report pointed out that 104 countries impose restrictions on the employment of women in particular fields as they are "contrary to the moral values". The Middle East and North Africa recorded the highest percentage by 65%, noting that they got the largest percentage by 58% among all the countries.

It is noteworthy that this report is the fifth edition in a series of biennial reports measuring the legal obstacles to women who engage in economic activity. Moreover, it is based on a set of indicators related to women's and human rights, the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women and the international treaties on the elimination of violence against women.

These indicators also address the legislative, social and cultural systems prevailing in the countries under study.
