According to labor sources, workers who were expelled from the sugar cane complex (Haft Tepe), which produces animal food, gathered last Sunday in front of the factory’s entrance to ask for their return to work. Some of them tried to immolate themselves but their colleagues prevented them from doing so.
At 11 am, a special anti-riot unit from the city of “Shosh” intervened and fired tear gas at the protestors, in addition to their attack with batons, as well as, the wild use of the burning pepper gas at their eyes and beatings, before the arrest of several of them.
The protesting workers are asking for the payment of their delayed wages for more than two months, as well as, the social insurance and the settling of their pending occupational problems.
The workers also expressed their concern and fears about the division of lands, and agricultural and industrial properties by the partners of this complex, which may lead to the harming the sustainability of the job.
