Thousands of contractual professors participated in a mass rally in Rabat on Wednesday, from “Bab Al-Ahad Square” towards the headquarters of the Ministry of National Education, following “the National Coordination of Teachers’ call. They protested to ask for the drop of contracts and their integration in the system of public services, as well as, the return of the expelled teachers to the school classes. In addition, they asked the government to open a serious and responsible dialogue to end definitively the suffering of professors and abolish the contracting system.
The protesters raised banners and slogans condemning the policy of contracting and abandoning the public work, putting the teachers (both men and women) in a fragile position regarding their relationship with the institution’s management, their colleagues and their students.
The march began at 11 am, as a part of the contractual teachers’ struggle program, which included a strike in front of the ministry, as well as, cultural and artistic events and shows like theatrical performances and songs on the first day; concluded with a protest on Thursday.
