The Tunisian Airlines (Tunisair) wants to lay off 1200 employees to ease its financial burdens

According to the Reuters agency quoting the head of “Tunisair”, the company wants to lay off 1 200 workers, as it suffers from financial difficulties that have contributed to the decline in the quality of its services and the frequent delays of its flights, especially regarding the increase of demands after the recovery of the tourism industry this season.

The head of “Tunisair” said that the company is witnessing major financial difficulties because of the high number of workers and the high wage mass in the company. He pointed out that the delay in flights resulted from a shortage in the company's fleet from about 30 aircraft to 24 aircraft that are currently in use.

These difficulties take place while the government is preparing to sign the Open Sky agreement with the European Union, which will make the company competitive with the low-cost airlines, making it very difficult for the company.
