Discontent among some unions of the Egyptian Trade Union Federation because of the policies of individual decisions

The head of the General Union of Press, Printing and Information Workers of the Egyptian Trade Union Federation (governmental) said that there is a feeling of unease and anxiety among some unions in the General Federation due to the individual opinion and decisions. He also denied that there was an intention to secede from the government federation.

He stressed in media statements that the unions seek to change the policies and find new foundations for the work and deal with different situations, as well as, decision-making and the adoption of constructive policies to serve the union work.

A new crisis is looming in the Egyptian Trade Union Federation, raised by 9 unions out of 27, after they announced their rejection of the policies adopted by the president and a number of his aides in the board of directors of the union since the appointment of the board in 2006, while some of them showed their intention for separation.

In an unprecedented escalation, union sources said that 9 of the union leaders met recently with the Minister of Manpower to discuss a number of files related to the union work and training and the possibility of amending the trade union organizations law. However, the main focus of the meeting was the importance of changing the policy of the union and the adoption of new plans for development that would “serve workers and protect their rights. "

This meeting was attended by the agriculture, irrigation, textile, food industries, press, printing, media, maritime transport, petroleum, mines, quarries, public transport and health sciences trade unions’ presidents.
