The Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions called on the international institutions operating in Palestine, led by the World Bank, to implement the projects for employment and empowerment through the Palestinian Employment Fund as the national official resort for employment in Palestine.
The federation stated in a statement that it considers the "employment fund" the sole way to implement the employment projects transparently and professionally due to its legal status and competence. It also expressed its disapproval at the same time regarding the intention of the World Bank to adopt non-employment institutions to implement the employment project announced last week and which costed $ 17 million.
The General Federation confirmed that the Palestinian Fund for Employment is the best national and technical way for employment in Palestine, especially in the Gaza Strip. Adding that “the Fund” has already established many employment projects that impressed the observers and institutions after proving its high ability to network with all the institutional and educational sectors, as well as, the private sector, in addition to some ministries of services and municipalities and working with high transparency.
The federation called on the World Bank to review its recent policies concerning the coordination and coping with the non-employment institutions, despite the great respect of these institutions, "but it is necessary to choose the best option, which is specialized in the implementation of such specific projects," according to the statement.
It also called on the government to intervene urgently to implement the government policies and decisions and to oblige the international institutions to act in accordance with them and not to exceed them to ensure the transparency of work. It also mentioned the government's decisions issued during the past years, in which it affirmed that the employment fund is the national official resort for employment in Palestine. Moreover, it called on the international institutions of the necessity of work through this institution, which happened with many other international institutions that committed to the resolution.
