A negotiating meeting took place last week between a government delegation headed by the Minister of Manpower, ”Mohamed Saafan” and representatives of the Eastern Quarry workers, which ended by settling the problem of 780 workers, which has started since August 2017 and has deprived workers of their wages for 11 months.
According to trade union sources, it was agreed on paying all the employees' dues on the occasion of Eid al-Ada and to conclude a collective work agreement, soon between the province of “Shakira” and the mining union, under the Minister of Manpower. The agreement stipulated the payment of the workers’ compensation and allowing the elders to retire on the basis of their last monthly salary contributions in the security fund, in addition to the compensation of the young workers who were transferred to work under the Civil Service Law No. 81 of 2017.
