A protest denouncing Italy's intervention in the internal affairs of Libya

Dozens of Libyans protested in the Algiers Square, at the heart of the capital Tripoli, last Friday against Italy's intervention in Libya and the latest statements issued by the Italian Ambassador “Giuseppe Beroni”. In addition, they also burned the Italian flag as a sign of refusing any interference in Libya's internal affairs.

The protestors condemned the Italian ambassador's request to postpone the presidential and parliamentary elections in Libya which was scheduled for next year, after the referendum on the Libyan draft constitution. Moreover, they attacked the president and members of the Presidential Council, and described them as Italian agents, and called for the activation of the army, police and judiciary institutions.
