The workers of the first aid and emergency services of the Palestinian Red Crescent entered in a protest since last Sunday, under the Palestine General Federation of Trade Unions’ call in “Al-Bira”.
The workers threatened to enter into an open-ended strike to protest against the non-response to their pending professional and social demands.
The workers of the first aid and emergency services are asking in particular to review the general pension law, introduce the retirement agreement with the Palestinian Pension Authority, inform the union about the nature of the agreement, take into account the years of service and seniority and reduce the working hours in shifts, in accordance with the regulations of the general headquarter of the Red Crescent organization
They are also asking for a 10% increase of the basic salary, so that the risk allowance would reach 50%)p for the first aid crews to suit the risky nature of the work. Moreover, they are asking for the payment of the transportation fees retroactively from 1January 2013. In addition to the retroactive adjustment of workers’ ranks starting from 1 January 2015, as well as, raising the value of the financial advances to make them reach 8 salaries, extending the period of payment, and raising the number of ambulances and crews, in accordance with the work demands in the governorates.
