The National Union of the Secondary Education issued a statement condemning the deteriorating working conditions of teachers and the contractors, working in the field of public education in Mauritania.
The union stressed that teachers of secondary education suffer from poor salaries, disruption of career progress and delay of allowances. Moreover, the contracting professors work with no rights granted, noting that teachers in secondary schools complain about the absence of training and the poor working conditions such as buildings, overcrowding of classes, lack of textbooks and the bad quality of chalk.
In its statement, the union called on all the teachers to rally and face this systematic neglect of education through protests in front of the presidential palace to ask for their rights.
