A 73-year-old Egyptian pensioner launched a hunger strike in the health insurance board’s headquarters in “Smouha” in Alexandria to protest against the hospital, which set him an appointment for the signing of a medical examination within three months.
The striker carried a paper in which it was written "I’ll continue this hunger strike until the coming of the health minister, the governor and the head of the health insurance board."
He stated that he was ill and went to the health insurance to sign a medical examination, but the doctor asked him to give it to the competent consultant and set an appointment for the examination for next October.
The Directorate of Security of Alexandria intervened to present it to the competent consultant and to provide him with the necessary treatment, so that the latter would abandon the strike and leave.
