The head of the mission of the International Organization for Migration in Tunisia, "Lorena Lando," confirmed that 3073 irregular Tunisian immigrants have arrived in Italy from the beginning of 2018 to mid-July.
She pointed out at a hearing by the Tunisian Foreign Affairs Committee at the parliament, last Monday, that Tunisia ranked first in terms of the number of irregular migrants to Italy during this period, revealing that the period from 1 January to 30 April 2018 registered the arrival of 1910 Tunisian immigrants to the Italian territory as far as the irregular migration is concerned, making Tunisia ranked first in terms of the number of irregular migrants during this period, followed by Ethiopia with 1810 irregular migrants and 695 for Nigeria.
The representative of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) highlighted that the number of returnees of irregular migrants to Tunisia during the current year was 94, of whom 40 who returned from Germany, 14 from Greece, 12 from Italy and 11 from Belgium.
