The detainees’ families in Gaza, whose siblings and children are prisoned in the Israeli jails, revealed that the Palestinian Authority has paid them half of their salaries, while their colleagues in the West Bank receive a full salary.
The families confirmed in media statements that many of them have not received their salaries since last March, denouncing the discrimination among the detainees’ families. Thus, they went to the Palestinian Authority to denounce this discrimination and call for punitive action.
In the same context, many parties protesting against these measures highlighted that " they reveal the Palestinian authority’s abundance to protect the rights of the Palestinian prisoners in front of the occupation forces." They also stressed that having a salary is a basic right and that the punitive measures will prolong the division and will negatively affect the morale of the prisoners and exacerbate the suffering of their families.
