Tensions are still present concerning the situation of the post-revolution barn workers, in Tunisia

The post-2011 revolution barn workers launched a national strike in parallel with the resumption of negotiations between the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) and the government on July 13th to find a way for settling their situation. They also carried out a central protest in front of the government palace in Al-Kasbah.

It is known that the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) and the government have resumed the negotiations to resolve the most complex of fragilework, which is about the post-2011 revolution barn workers. The tripartite committee will be held to continue the discussions that have been stopped, about the government's point of view concerning a number of alternative proposals for the final recruitment in the public service to resolve the situation of the concerned workers, which decreased to about 70 thousand workers after the inventory carried out by the Prime Minister after that it was within 84 thousand workers.

The observers consider that the integration in the workplaces and the final recruitment demanded by the post-2011 revolution barn workers collided with two pillars. The first is the opposition of the final recruitment of the post-2011 revolution barn workers with the government program and its pledges with the IMF to reduce the number of public servants, the wage blocking, and to end the recruitment of workers in the public work. Moreover, the educational level of some 5 000 of the post-2011 revolution barn workers’ graduates is only needed for these ministries.

It is noteworthy that the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT) rejects the various proposals put forward by government representatives as an alternative to the final recruitment, considering that the government did not meet its commitments to the final settlement of the file on 27 November by offering proposals, which do not compensate the workers of barns for 7 years of fragile work and violation of the law by the state. It also considers that it will not accept what the concerned workers reject.
