In protest against the conditions of his detention: the journalist “Alaa Rimawi” enter in an open hunger strike in the Occupation prisons

The Palestinian Society Prisoner's Club (PPSMO) announced that a Palestinian journalist arrested by Israel had declared an open hunger strike, in protest against his arrest for his journalistic work.

It stated also in a statement that “Alaa Rimawi”, a 40-year-old journalist from Ramallah, has been on an open hunger strike since his arrest (last week) with three other journalists in “Ofer” prison in the West Bank.

The Israeli army arrested Al-Rimawi and three other journalists, as all of them work for Al-Quds TV channel, which broadcasts from Lebanon after that their homes were raided in Ramallah. The arrest took place following an Israeli decision to ban the work of Al Quds TV in Israel and Al-Quds.

According to some Palestinian human rights sources, the occupation army arrested on Wednesday morning the journalist “Anwar Mouna” (36 years old) after raiding his home in Nablus.

The number of the arrested Palestinian journalists by the occupation rose to 33, according to the Palestinian Authority's Information Ministry.

In the same context, the Palestinian Society Prisoner's Club (PPSMO) said in a separate statement that the journalist “Lama Khater” (42 years old), who was detained by the occupation, is under intensive interrogation at the “Ashkelon” detention center.

According to the prisoner's club, “Lama Khater”, "during the interrogation period during the past two days she was confined to the chair, accompanied by a continuous screaming and cursing and they allowed her to eat and use the toilet only once."

The Israeli army arrested “Khater”, a mother of five children, on the 24th of last month, after raiding her home in “Al-Khalil”, south of the West Bank.
