On Thursday, a general meeting of agricultural workers took place, including “Al-Ramlia" agricultural complex, "Mohsen Lamam" agricultural complex and the agricultural development company "Lkhamas" in Siliana governorate to study the various professional and social conditions and the pending problems experienced by the two complexes and the company. Moreover, it aims to review the agricultural file in the region because of its strategic support for development, and because of the aggravation of the crisis as a result of the marginalization and disregard for its real problems.
Workers and their unions confirmed that “Lkhamas" agricultural complex is witnessing a very delicate situation that brought it to the brink of bankruptcy due to mismanagement and the lack of the necessary funding to save it, which threatens the workers' jobs and positions at any moment.
The workers asked for the returning of the complex to the state’s territory office and to provide it with the necessary money needed to revive it, in order to save it and preserve its sustainability, especially as it is financed mainly by the National Agricultural Bank (BNA) and that the land is the state’s property.
It is noteworthy that the complex is about 750 irrigated hectares and employs 120 permanent and temporary workers. In the past, it used to produce 11 800 liters of milk per day, but now it produces only 2 000 liters.
It is likely that the agricultural workers from the complexes above mentioned will enter in protest movements in the coming days if their situation and the conditions of their institutions do not change to the better.
