On last Thursday, the workers’ union in UNRWA organized a protest outside the Gaza regional office with the participation of all the emergency workers and teachers who are threatened to remain as non-contractual workers by the administration. Consequently, they threaten to enter into a labor strike in the next few days.
The union called on the agency to bear its responsibilities and stand by the Palestinian refugees, stressing the need to withdraw the letters that reached a number of employees about their dismissal and not to cut their payment, in addition to the disbursement of refugees. It also called on setting the start of the new school year and not to involve schools in the financial crisis.
The workers’ union organized a massive march last Wednesday after that had UNRWA taken a number of decisions, including sending letters at the end of this month to 956 employees on the emergency budget for their expulsion and the transfer of some other workers as partial workers. This threatens the services provided to all the refugees and threatens the new school year.
