In protest against the salary cuts: Gaza prisoners in the occupation prisons announce their entrance in a hunger strike

The Palestinian prisoners in the Israeli occupation prisons announced on Wednesday their entrance in a hunger strike in an escalating way to reject the Palestinian Authority’s cutting of the prisoners’ salaries of the Gaza Strip.

The prisoners, representing Palestine, issued a statement condemning the violation of the prisoners’ rights and their families at a time when the competent authorities should hold their responsibilities and support the steadfastness of the prisoners, who are considered as the first bastion in the face of occupation.

The statement revealed that "the prisoners feel insulted by the many promises that have not been implemented. They have tried hard to make their voice heard, but it was in vain, and the authorities’ non-response to pay the prisoners' salaries from Gaza means that they are forced to defend the rights of our families."

The salaries’ cut affected dozens of freed prisoners and their families from Gaza have, following the measures imposed by the authority against the Gaza Strip to stop the paying of salaries.
