The Aircraft maintenance technicians in Algeria stick to the strike of July 31

The National Syndicate of Aircraft Maintenance Technicians (SNTMA) confirmed its commitment to the strike of July 31, until the administration meets their raised demands for more than a year ago.

The union refused in its press statements to attend the meeting called by the administration of the Algerian Airlines on Monday to study the issue of wages and confirmed that this decision was taken because of the intransigence of the administration every time a strike is announced to call for the completion of the study of "wage comparison" or what is known as "benchmarking" with global companies.

“Ahmed Boutoumi”, head of the National Syndicate, pointed out that there is a significant imbalance in the distribution of wealth within the company, just few people benefit from huge sums of money, while the other workers are deprived of their rights and receive little amounts of money. This situation deepened the company's problems and created an imbalance in its functioning.

It is noteworthy that the labor inspectorate confirmed that the strike is illegal, a position that was rejected by the National Syndicate. It confirmed that it had met all the procedures provided by the law, before the announcement of the strike, which was held during a public meeting with the presence of a judicial record and representatives of the administration, after the administration’s ignoration of the demands and repeated correspondences addressed to it.

The technicians are asking for their reclassification into the hierarchical wage scale by raising the base wage, equalizing their wages with other employees of the same company and their promotion in work positions.
