According to media reports in the UAE, the total number of cases related to the non-payment of wages by the Abu Dhabi Court, from the beginning of 2017 to the first quarter of this year (15 months), amounted to 32 cases, where the Chamber confirmed that employers have to give their workers all their financial dues, in a short period of time.
According to the Public Prosecution, the mechanism used to settle wage disputes is linked to three stages for resolving the disputes between the employer and the workers. The first is that if there is a dispute between the two contracting parties and were unable to settle it peacefully, they must refer it to the Ministry of Human Resources and Settlement, which in the second stage takes the appropriate decisions to settle the dispute within two weeks, in accordance with the procedures stipulated in the executive regulations of this law. If the settlement is not achieved, the litigation stage will be used.
