The Palestinian news agency,” Maan”, reported that the head of the workers' team in the International Labor Organization (ILO) board, “Katlyn Bachir” reviewed the conditions of Palestinian workers and their financial rights held by the Zionist entity and their sufferings at the checkpoints as they travel to get to their workplaces inside the Green Line.
The Palestinian Minister of Labor welcomed "Katlyn Bachir” at the headquarters of the Palestinian Social Security Institution in the presence of the Undersecretary of the Ministry “Samer Salama” and senior officials and the Secretary General of the Federation of Trade Unions of Palestine, “Shahir Saad“ and executives of the institution.
“Bachir” expressed her full readiness to intervene and help in the cause of the accumulated financial rights of workers in Israel and follow up with integrity and honesty, in addition to the issue of the suffering of workers at the Israeli checkpoints and their working conditions there.
It is noteworthy that there are about ten billion dollars as accrued and accumulated rights for the Palestinian workers within the Green Line since 1970 in Israel, which refuses to disclose any information or data about them despite the repeated demands of the Palestinian government.
The Palestinian General Federation of Trade Unions asserts that workers are subjected to a humiliating treatment, in violation the most basic human rights at the Israeli checkpoints while their travelling to their workplaces inside the Green Line. Moreover, most of the Israeli employers do not comply with the occupational safety and health standards in the workplace.
The phenomenon of workers' brokers has also grown from the systematic Zionist policies that give the Israeli employers the right to issue an unlimited number of work permits, which they sells to the Palestinian workers for NIS 2 500 per month via Palestinian intermediaries.
