The Moroccan trade union centers considered that the poor defense of the Moroccan government's proposals on wage increases by the National Union of Labor, which is close to the Justice and Development Party are not serious, and that it aims to probe the pulse about the position of the strike law that is being debated in Parliament.
Trade union sources said that the prime minister turned to the National Union of Labor to give a positive impression and sent false messages of optimism about the meeting on last Monday with unions about the resumption of social dialogue, which was considered by the trade union centers as it did not come with anything new because of the absence of a serious proposal by the government.
The National Union of Labor talked only about improving the income without offering an alternative proposal that does not exceed 300 dirhams divided into three years.
On the other hand, the Democratic Confederation of Labour asked for a general increase in wages of 600 dirhams for both public and private sectors and public institutions, the full implementation of the agreement of 26 April 2011, the consolidation of the minimum wage between the industrial and agricultural sectors, the compensation of rural workers, and the increase the minimum wage of 10 per cent.
The confederation stressed that the government's refusal to lift the increase is like a rejection of any other demand to improve the financial and social status of workers, declaring its refusal to pass the law of strike outside the negotiations of social dialogue.
It is noteworthy that the government offer included an increase of 300 dirhams per month in the employees’ salaries, who are between 6 to 9 grades and it included 1 to 5 ranks of the 10th scale, starting from the beginning of January 2019. In addition, to raise family allowances by 100 dirhams per child to include 6 children, starting from the 1st of July 2018 in the public and in the private sectors, after the approval of the administrative board of the National Fund for Social Security.
