Jordan: The workers' union demands the reconsideration and review of the minimum wage

The General Federation of Jordan Trade Unions called for a revision of the minimum wage.

In a letter to the prime minister, it was written: “The current minimum wage does not fit the basic needs of the worker, and is disproportionate, in view of the high prices, in the country, which has eroded wages. We are very confident in you to look for this important issue, especially that you were in a direct relationship with the workers’ concerns and suffering. "

The union also stressed the need to establish a successful investment environment that includes all the elements of success of legislation regulating investment and its components, and provide incentives to encourage the investment capital, whether internally or externally, in order to achieve the goal of increasing growth, reducing the deficit in the trade balance and creating more opportunities to contribute to reducing unemployment and the scourge of poverty.

The Union also pointed out that social dialogue will remain in line with all the components of society and its spectrum, and that its policy is based on moderation and serving the interests of workers, economy and country; and maintain its national constants, calling on the Prime Minister to meet as soon as possible for dialogue.
