UBER Egypt passenger services company through smartphones’ applications announced last Sunday that it will increase the price of its services to keep up with the rise in the prices of petroleum products and natural gas used for cars, according to its statement.
The Egyptian government began last Saturday to implement the previous decision of the Council of Ministers, which is about the partial increase of hydrocarbon which fluctuates between 17.4 to 66.6%.
The new tariffs caused a split and controversy among drivers. Some saw it as balanced and achieving justice between the driver and the customer, while others objected, stressing that it would not cover the cost of the cars’ fuel after the increase in the prices of petroleum derivatives, which will lead to the rise in most goods and services.
A number of drivers entered into strike until the adjustment of "UBER" prices in line with the increase in fuel prices, which amounted to 66% of the old prices.
