The investigative judge in case No. 173 of 2011, known as the "Foreign Funding of Organizations" case, decided to release the feminist activist and human rights defender “Mazan Hassan”, the founder and executive director of the” Nazra for Feminist Studies” association, with a bail of 30,000 Egyptian pounds.
The judge accused her for establishing "an entity in violation of law and practicing activities contrary to the purpose of the establishment and receiving funds from abroad with the aim of harming national security and tax evasion."
The” Nazra for Feminist Studies” association expressed its condemnation of the accusations against its executive director, which comes in the context of the crackdown on civil society organizations and the closing of the public sphere and called for the closure of the case 173 which penalizes human rights defenders for their feminist and legitimate actions.
