Tunisia: The layoff of workers and trade unionists in the company "Kashk" for electronics in Zaghouan province

Workers of "Kashk" company for electronics located in the industrial zone of Zaghouan governorate, launched a strike since Sunday to protest against the dismissal of 16 workers, including 3 union officials by the management of the company.

As confirmed by the union party, the administration informed the expelled workers of its decision to stop working permanently on Sunday through an officer at law accusing them of the strike and "disrupting the work" after they carried out a previous strike on 8 June to ask for professional ranking and increase in wages and for all the employees of the factory and enable them to provide them with grants and payment according to the ongoing legislation of the electronics’ sector.

Some members of the union considered that the employer arbitrarily fired their colleagues and confiscated their right to strike, which is approved by the law, the constitution and the international conventions. They called on the concerned authorities, labour inspection and reconciliation, and all the concerned authorities to intervene urgently and stop the silence and return all their colleagues who were expelled until their demands are met.

It is noteworthy that the factory employs about 1300 workers and has been illegally classified for years and deprived of legal increases in wages and grants approved by the Joint Electronic Agreement.
