The Syndicate of banks' officers in Lebanon threatened to enter into a strike until that their professional and social demands of the sector that have been accumulated for years are met.
The banking is witnessing tension recently because the authorities’ non-response of to the workers’ demands. As a result, workers organized strikes and protests in front of the headquarters of the Association of Banks.
The employees of the banking sector are asking for a rebalancing of the standard of living of workers and employees by speeding up the call of the indicator committee meeting to establish a minimum wage regarding the cost of living in addition to the completion of the pension and social protection system, the protection of the Lebanese labour force, and the file of the rental leases law, as well as, the addressing of grade and salary series, renewing the collective work contract, raising scholarships and stopping arbitrary dismissal.
