The Executive Office of the General Federation of Libyan Trade Unions accused the Libyan Minister of Labour of violating the provisions of the International Convention No. 87 concerning the rights and freedoms of trade unions and trade union organization.
The Executive Office said in a statement issued yesterday that the Minister of Labour in the coalition government had committed abuses and violations during the 107th session of the ILO Conference when the Minister sought to blur the trade union movement and marginalize its role, through a full exclusion from participating in the Arab organized sessions and the international organizations concerned with workers' affairs.
The executive office of the General Federation revealed that the minister has formed a delegation of his followers, who do not belong to workers, which is a clear violation of the provisions of the International Convention No. 87 concerning the rights and freedoms of trade union and trade union organization, which Libya has ratified.
The General Union confirmed that any decision issued by the Minister regarding the participation of workers is not valid and does not represent the workers' union except through a decision issued by the government including the tripartite delegation, considering that the appointment of "Younis Al-Madani" by the minister to represent the workers is unacceptable and contravenes the law and the Minister should bear the consequences.
