Omar al-Mukhtar University’s employees have entered in an open-ended strike in the city of “Al-Bayda”, since Monday to ask for their delayed financial dues from last January.
The union of Libyan university employees at the Ministry of Higher Education confirmed that the government did not allocate the financial salaries related to the employees for the first four months of this year, as well as, the non-payment of their salaries of May and June, and the overtime allowance and work allowance on Saturdays, despite the numerous correspondences addressed to the concerned authorities.
The workers also expressed their rejection of the university law, which will lead to major problems, stressing that the protests will continue until the implementation of their demands and the payment of their financial dues.
