Lebanon: frozen funds for the Islamic hospital and workers ask for its release

The Minister of Public Health of the Lebanese caretaker government decided to reduce the amount of money of the ministry allocated to the charitable Islamic hospital in Tripoli. It is a measure which the hospital workers considered to be contrary to the principle of equality and the right of the citizen to hospitalization.

The workers confirmed the invalidity of the talk about the reduction in the prices of medicines, which rose remarkably and which was already the highest among the states of the region before the recent increases, as well as, the threat on pharmacies, that were making a simple discount on the price of medicine, by closure and the removal of offenders. All the reviews failed to stop these arbitrary decisions, accusing the Minister of Health of indifference, despite his appeal to intervene to stop this attack on citizens with low incomes.

The hospital workers were accused of reducing the financial and specific ceiling of the Islamic charitable hospital in Tripoli and they kept the ceiling allocated to all hospitals in Lebanon as it is, calling on the three presidents to move to restore the acquired right of the Islamic charity hospital and release of the other frozen funds or its benefit before they defend their legitimate rights.
