On Wednesday and Thursday, doctors from public hospitals launched a strike in various parts of the Moroccan Kingdom. It is the strike called for by the independent syndicate of the public sector doctors.
The independent syndicate of the public sector doctors held the full social and political responsibility to the government to resolve this crisis and stressed that doctors will continue their struggle and protests until their legitimate demands are met.
The union threatened to escalate in case its demands were not met to improve the health services provided to the citizens, improve the working conditions, ensure high quality services without geographical discrimination, which would preserve the dignity of all people, stressing that the citizen is the first and foremost beneficiary.
The syndicate of doctors demands the "physical and moral equivalence" and the "codification of the practice of medicine in the private sector for the doctors of the Ministry of Health"; that "the contents of the joint decision of professors in medicine no. 14876 dated 07/09/2015 shall apply to the Minister of Health, the Minister of Higher Education and the head of the national doctors' body.
The union also demands the right of representation in the administrative board of the Hassan II foundation for the development of social work for the workers of the Ministry of Health. It also asked for reviewing the services provided, taking into account the privacy and expectations of the doctors, while rehabilitating the role of the general doctor in the health system and authorizing him to choose his speciality, as it is the case in most countries and reviewing the method of specialization.
