The Independent Workers' Union of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina issued a statement condemning the bias of the Ministry of Manpower and its subordinate directorates, during the period of reconciliation of the union organizations which ended on Tuesday 15 May 2018 to the general governmental trade union committees.
The Independent Workers ‘Union of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina confirmed that the directorates of the labour force practiced intransigence and procrastination with the independent trade unions, especially the trade union committees with which there are committees affiliated with the general governmental trade union committees. In fact, it accepted any papers from the committees of the general governmental trade union, even if they were not legal and did not accept the papers of the independent committees, noting that the independent unions agreed to join the General Union.
The Independent Union highlighted that it was the victim of all forms of intransigence and non-compliance with the law and its executive regulations, in violation of the law and the will of the workers of the library and all the values of democracy that should be respected by all the responsibles in institutions such as the Bibliotheca Alexandrina.
The union explained in its statement that it had prepared a document clarifying the situation to the vice minister of the Ministry of Manpower in Alexandria. Moreover, it submitted a series of complaints to the concerned authorities, until they got the response by refusing to accept the receipt of papers for the existence of another union of the General Union. Still, the independent union is working on the appealing of the committee’s decision.
